GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a unified indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India. It replaced multiple indirect taxes like VAT, excise duty, and service tax. GST was implemented on 1st July 2017.
What is the difference between CGST and SGST? โ–ผ
CGST (Central GST) is collected by the Central Government and SGST (State GST) is collected by the State Government. Both are equal halves of the total GST. For example, on 18% GST โ€” 9% goes as CGST and 9% as SGST.
What is GST Exclusive vs GST Inclusive? โ–ผ
GST Exclusive means GST is added on top of the base price. GST Inclusive means the price already includes GST inside it. Our calculator supports both โ€” "Add GST" for exclusive and "Remove GST" for inclusive calculation.
How to calculate GST manually? โ–ผ
To add GST: GST Amount = Original Price ร— GST% / 100. Final Price = Original Price + GST Amount. To remove GST from inclusive price: Original Price = Inclusive Price / (1 + GST%/100). GST Amount = Inclusive Price โˆ’ Original Price.
What is IGST? โ–ผ
IGST (Integrated GST) is applicable on inter-state transactions โ€” when goods or services are supplied from one state to another. IGST = CGST + SGST combined and goes entirely to the Central Government.
